For the month of May, Trellis & Vine is proud to showcase the work of Local Artist Janet Felts. You could also meet her in person on May 25th from 3-5 pm. We'll let Janet tell you more about herself and her work.

"I’m new to this area as an artist and I hope my artworks will introduce me to you as to who I am as a person and an artist. You will see I use different media , I’m a retired Art Teacher, I love them all and I love to draw. I also paint “Plein Air”, painting on location, outdoors and the paintings are usually small so they can easily be transported.

I was born in Franklin. my parents were both born and raised in Williamson County, . They raised their family in Clarksville. Therefore, I attended Austin Peay State University where I earned an Associate Degree in Advertising Art and a BFA in Art Education. I married my High School Sweetheart and after 20 years in Springfield, TN, we went to Atlanta, GA where I earned by Master’s Degree in Art Education from Georgia State University.

My Art Career started as a Graphic Artist for the State of Tennessee , I taught Commercial Art/Graphics Arts at Hillsboro High School and then to Georgia to teach High School Art, Digital Media &Design and Animation at Grayson Technical School. When I retired, I returned home to Middle Tennessee to live in Erin in 2012. We recently moved to La Vergne, Tn in 2022 to be closer to our two sons.

I belong to the Chestnut Group, Nashville Artist Guild and the Tennessee Watercolor Society"
