Meet David Klemann

Benjamin Alley

For the month of June, Trellis & Vine is proud to showcase the work of Local Artist David Klemann. David's use of uniquely bright colors and natural subjects is always a sight to see. You can come see and purchase his work in person anytime during the month of June at our gallery at 27 S Lowry St in Smyrna TN. You could also meet David in person on June 15th from 3-5 pm. We'll let David tell you more about himself and his work.

"I am retired and always enjoyed the outdoors. I was a zookeeper briefly in my twenties which sparked my attraction to the natural world. A chance meeting a few years later on a visit to the rainforest in Peru helped solidify it. I was gradually inspired to paint especially birds because of a chance meeting (at Machu Picchu) with a bird researcher and artist John P O’Neil from lsu university.

Since then my fascination with birds and the natural world has only grown. From my base in Rutherford county I love to explore through imagery and observation the world of nature and it's relation to color. I really started seriously painting in the past two years. I mostly use acrylic paints on various surfaces like canvas, glass, and wood. I also do a small bit of wood carving. My goal is to show the world from a different perspective and enjoy  the creative journey. My hope is to give joy to those who see my art."

If you liked this preview of David's work and would like to see more, you can visit us anytime between 10-6:30 Wednesday-Saturday during the month of June. If you would like to meet David, he will be on site on May 25th from 3-5 pm to chat about art.
