Sharon Trevathon's Launched Into Space
Benjamin AlleyShare
Imagine the trip of a lifetime. Visions of color. Elemental beginnings of planets, suns, black holes. Collisions of matter and gases. Energy, sound beyond our hearing, blinding light, inky darkness, waves across the universe. Worlds unknown. The pull of gravity. The unknown expanse. The immensity.
Space: fascinating, intricate, colorful, ever-evolving, mysterious.
That’s Sharon's inspiration for this continuing exploration of art series. What we don’t know as well as what we do know of the universe fuels her imagination to create these fun, colorful, “out of this world” paintings. She says "We are only a very small part of the whole. It is very humbling."
Sharon's intriguing collection began when her son-in-law handed her a partially completed abstract painting with hues of blue and asked her to finish it. She originally thought it would be an ocean scape, but he suggested maybe she set her sights on the sky instead. An abstract of space "Trajectory" was born.
Soon after, Sharon created one star burst...
Then another...
And before she knew it, seven pieces were in her Space collection. A movement had begun.
We are privileged to host her current collection, developed over six years, at Trellis & Vine during the month of September. You can see the works any open hours during the month, and you have the opportunity to meet Sharon in person this Friday, September 12th from 5 - 8 pm.
Check out her current collection here. And as you peruse the images in our gallery, let your imagination take you on this trip. Enjoy boundless possibilities. Where do you want to visit? What inspires you?
